RIP Barron Vangor Toth

I've just been informed that Barron Vangor Toth passed away on the evening of Feb. 29th with his family in Trumbull, CT. He had apparently been struggling with cancer for quite some time.

I know how loved his writings were on here he will surely be missed.

I knew nothing about this and am really shocked and upset. He was just 34:

http://barronvangortoth.com/classic.php?doc=bio

Ironically yesterday I wrote him an email saying I felt bad that he wasn't writing for Gutshot any more, but I wasn't happy with the wording so I saved the draft and didn't send it. Now I'm really sorry I didn't send it earlier.

I've just found more news here:

Only spoke to him last week and not once did he ever mention what he was going through nor made any excuses.

He was one of life’s real nice guys with a razor wit and superb writing style. I am a very sad person today at the passing of a friend, colleague and a fine human being that will be sadly missed. RIP Barron.

As a mark of respect to Barron we will be running the best of his articles over the next few weeks.
Derek and I have also spoken about running some kind of memorial charity tournament on line for Barron with the proceeds going to a charity of his family’s choice. More details to follow.

Wow, that is a shock.

Great writing (what an achievement to make limit poker interesting). Only met him once, in LV last year.

Will be missed, no doubt.

Very very sad. Genuinely upset.

Probably my favourite poker writer bar none.

Thoughts are with his family - 34 just doesn't seem fair.

I loves my Barron, I'm sure we have all spend hours of our lives reading his excellent saga on Foxwood. Such a shame a talented bloke left us so young.

How did Barron become involved with Gutshot? IMO he personified much of what is good about Gutshot, talent, a sense of humour but most of all fun.

Thanks Barron.

xx

Shocked.

Really enjoyed meeting and hanging out with him at WSOP last summer.

RIP Barron.
